Personal Careers GuidanceNext Steps - Key Stage 4
All students at All Hallows are given the opportunity to meet with our independent careers advisor. For Key Stage 4 these 45-minute 'Next Steps' meetings start after May half term of Year 10 and the year group is completed by February of Year 11. This is timed in line with applications for their key transition into Post 16 education either with us, or another provider. This is an ideal time to start talking to your young person about the direction they might like to take. Students will be informed of their meeting, by their tutor, the week before it takes place. The meetings will allow students to discuss the options and potential career paths that they are interested in and that are available, and to signpost and direct them to find further information. We aim to give students information on all the pathways that are available to them as we understand that students have different needs. After the meeting students will be sent a record of the discussion had to their school email, please ask them what was discussed and encourage them to follow up with the next steps research and activities. Next Steps - The Sixth Form College If students continue to or join us in the Sixth Form College, they are given an additional opportunity to meet with our independent careers advisor. These 45-minute 'Next Steps' meetings start after February half term in Year 12, and the year group is completed by May half term. This is timed in line with applications for their key transition into Post 18 education or work, looking at University, Apprenticeships and work. This is alongside the UCAS launch delivered by the pastoral team. There are also a limited number of appointments available for Year 13 in December, this is to help students who are still unsure of the direction they wish to take. If you have any questions regarding careers advice, please contact Mrs Millar at [email protected]. There is also free advice available from the National Careers Service including their free helpline Careers advice - job profiles, information and resources | National Careers Service |
