Assessment and Reporting
A Levels and BTECs are graded differently to GCSEs. While A Levels are graded A*-E, BTECs are awarded with Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction*.
All students are set Target Grades at the beginning of their courses. They are generated based upon their prior performance at GCSE and a national formula is applied. Please note these are aspirational and not a ceiling to achievement. As such, all students are prepared to access material up to A* standard.
Parents and guardians will receive five progress reports over the course of the two year programmes of study. Two of these will be based on internal formal examinations: the Year 12 Exams and the Year 13 Mock Exams.
In addition, we schedule one Parents’ Evening for each year group. This is a good opportunity to coordinate learning plans designed to support students, discuss action points to refocus and to facilitate a successful outcome for your child. However, please do contact the relevant subject departments if you have any queries over the course of your child’s education.
As a College, we encourage an open dialogue with home. After all, we are all working together to ensure students are happy, confident and achieving their potential. Please do contact the College and departments using the contact details on the website.
