WALKING AND CYCLINGNaturally we encourage students to travel to school in a way that promotes good health and does the least damage to the environment. Cycle racks are provided at the front of school. Cyclists are advised to wear safety helmets and to follow all instructions concerning health and safety. TRAVEL BY BUSFree or subsidised transport to Catholic schools is available at the discretion of the local authority where the student lives. In this area, each authority has its own approach. Surrey LA provides free transport for Catholic children living more that three miles, but less than ten miles from the school, Hampshire offers a subsidised season ticket. Authorities in Berkshire have their own systems. Transport to All Hallows is provided by a combination of public service buses (Stagecoach and Countrywide Travel) and some special services. Local service buses passing All Hallows are the 18 (or 38) Aldershot to Petersfield run (via Farnham) and the 19 to the Haslemere area (also via Farnham). Stagecoach PLC also provide a mixture of re-directed service buses and special buses which terminate at All Hallows. These include the No. l, 413 and 414 from the Cove, Hawley, Camberley and Farnborough areas, the 50 from Camberley via Ash and the 415 from Fleet via Cove and Farnborough. In addition there are some minicoach services from the Bracknell, Ascot and Yateley area. Enquiries regarding availability of places on these coaches should be made to: Bracknell/Ascot - Bracknell Forest Borough Council Some students from Alton and Bracknell/Ascot area travel by train and connecting bus from Farnham or Aldershot train stations. BUS PASSES: Students living more than three miles from the school should apply for a travel pass from their local Area Education Office. Hampshire: The Passenger Transport Officer County Surveyors Department Hampshire County Council The Castle Winchester S023 8UD (Telephone: 01962 841841) Berkshire: Bracknell Forest Borough Council Time Square Market Street Bracknell RG12 1JD (Telephone: 01344 424642) Surrey: Transport Officer Local Education Office Andrews House College Road Guildford GU14QF (Telephone: 08456 009009) Students living less than three miles from school, or more than ten miles from school will not normally be eligible for free or subsidised travel passes. In general, non-Catholic children do not qualify for free or subsidised transport, but this is a matter for parents to negotiate with their LA. Stagecoach PLC offers a reduced rate season ticket called 'Megarider' which may be useful to those who do not qualify for other arrangements. Parents wishing to make use of this facility should contact Stagecoach direct. Naturally, we expect a high standard of discipline and behaviour from students travelling to and from school. The school would regard any cases of misbehaviour as a serious breach of the School Code. TRAVEL BY CARThere are no facilities at school for parents to park while delivering or collecting students. The school front approach is a double-yellow line zone and this is enforced by the local authorities. Parents are advised to arrange a dropping off/picking up point well away from the school entrance to ensure everyone's safety. Problems or difficulties connected with transport or school travel should be passed to Mr Bird. |
