MAKING POVERTY HISTORY

DATELINE : June 24th 2005

Sixth form students Lucy Myers and Matt Clifford  organised a giant petition with over seven hundred signatures calling for a total cancellation of debt of the world's poorest countries.

The petition was presented to newly elected South West Surrey MP Jeremy Hunt in a ceremony at school. Mr. Hunt was enthusiastic about the students' efforts and was honoured to be ale to present it as his first petition since becoming an MP.

Also in attendance was Mrs. Ann Scrase, who has a long relationship with the school as a parent, who is a leading figure in the Farnham Make Poverty History Campaign.

Mr. Hunt congratulated the students on their efforts and encouraged them to remain committed to the cause, and to do more than just putting money in collection boxes.

Lucy Myers and Matt Clifford later met with International Development Secretary, Hilary Benn, to present their petition.

The two 6th-formers travelled to London to meet Mr. Benn at the House of Commons. They were accompanied by Assistant Headteacher Mr. Laing. The visit was arranged by South West Surrey MP, Jeremy Hunt.

College Rag Week success

DATELINE : 4th November 2003

6th Form College Rag Week a great success

Our annual 6th form rag week was a rousing success. The college students had a wonderful time  following careful planning and preparation. Each day there was a special theme for fancy dress. Pirates day was a great success, along with the traditional favourites like 'Mr and Mrs'. New for this year was a very amusing 118 v 192 day, which produced a crop of droopy moustaches and running kits!

Lunch-time and evening events included the traditional slave auction, a basket-ball match against the staff and an evening Karaoke event.

As well as having a great deal of fun, the students raised in excess of £500 for two main charities
