OVER £1000 CHARITY AS RAG WEEK BREAKS ALL RECORDS

DATELINE: Monday November 2nd 2009

This year's Rag Week took place just before half-term. Nearly every 6th former entered into the spirit of the events, with different themes each day which produced some wild and wonderful costumes. The annual Slave Auction and sporting challenges all went well. Everyone had a great time, the events were very well organised and best of all, over £1000 was raised for charity.

WELCOME TO OUR ITALIAN FRIENDS

DATELINE: Monday October 19th 2009

We are delighted to welcome 26 students from  Liceo Internazionale Arcivescovile who are spending a year here studying A-levels. They have settled in quickly and are getting on well with their teachers and fellow students.
A special Mass to celebrate our Italian Link was celebrated on September 24th by Fr Aaron Spinelli from Guildford. About 100 people were present: : our Italian students, the host families who are looking after them, students and staff of All Hallows and our special guests who had come all the way from Italy: Msgr Umberto Giacometti, principal, Mrs Francesca Griso, deputy principal, and Mr Nicola Mase, Mr Filipo Galli and Barbara Broz, three staff members.
A buffet supper followed the Mass and it was a very happy occasion. It was good to see our visiting students talking about their experiences with their teachers from Italy and it was a ideal chance to strengthen the links between our two countries. We were also pleased to see the host families who have worked so hard to make it a smooth and enjoyable experience for their guests.

This partnership is just one of the reasons why we have been given the International schools award, which Mr Tucker received during a presentation ceremony in London recently

A-LEVEL RESULTS PUT ALL HALLOWS IN THE TOP 10%

DATELINE: Monday November 24th 2008

We are delighted to report that this year's A-level results achieved a 100% pass rate following an appeal by the school against a grade awarded by the examination board to one of our students.

We were already very pleased with our initial 99.3% pass rate, but now it is possible to confirm that every single examination subject sat by every single A-level student this summer produced a pass grade!

TOP 10% OF COLLEGES AND SCHOOLS

Little wonder that the independent ALPS analysis of A-level performance in over one thousand schools and colleges places All Hallows in the top 10% for adding value. In other words we are succeeding in helping our students to achieve their full potential to a greater extent than over 90% of other schools and colleges in the survey.

THE GREAT FRIDGE ADVENTURE

DATELINE: Friday October 17th 2008

Making the news is Year 13 student JAMES MILLER. In the spirit of adventurer Tony Hawks, James and his fried Marcus are going to walk from John O'Groats to Lands End, rihauling a pair of fridges behind them. As if that wasn't cool enough, they are going to raise a great deal of money for the Alzeihmer's Society.
The venture was inspired by an assembly given by Head of Sixth Form, Mr Spare. You can read the whole story on James and Marcus' website.
James was interviewed on Southern Counties Radio recently and no doubt there will be a lot of media coverage next summer when the pair make their way across the country. We wish them every success!

SUPERB A-LEVEL RESULTS

DATELINE : Friday August 15th 2008

Congratulations to our Year 13 A-level students for a stunning set of results this summer! The overall pass rate at A-level was 99.3%, the highest we have seen. Nearly half of all grades were either As or Bs. There were many outstanding performances but a special word of praise for Henry Bertram and Katie Flynn. Katie achieved four grade As at A- level (English Literature, History, Philosophy and Sociology) and will now be going on to Oxford University to read Modern History. Henry obtained five straight A-level passes- in Chemistry, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Music.

RAG WEEK RAISES RECORD AMOUNT

DATELINE : Friday October 25th 2007

Our annual Rag Week has been a great success and has raised nearly £1000 for charities. Each day had its own special theme and students appeared in a variety of disguises, ranging from music eras to public services.

At lunch-times there were popular activities, with pride of place going to the now traditional Slave Auction. This year, a new feature was an Eggheads Quiz pitting staff against students. The Penalty Shoot Out saw victory for the staff and the netball was closely fought too!

SIXTH FORM SUPPORTS THREE GOOD CAUSES

DATELINE : Friday December 15 2006

At a special assembly today, cheques for a total value of £2,050 were presented to very deserving causes. The money was raised during the highly successful Rag Week in October, and from other charity events.

Receiving donations were the NSPCC, represented by Anne Luckham who is the charity's Schools Officer, who explained to the Sixth Form about some of the terrible cases that the NSPCC has to deal with.

Sue Wilkinson thanked the students for the £750 she received  for the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice in Farnham, reminding them how important it is to have good hospice care in a local community.

The last recipient was Kylie Grimes, a brave and popular young lady, who is coping with the challenge of partial paralysis following an accident. She is now working to raise money for other people with similar problems.
