THE GREAT FRIDGE ADVENTUREDATELINE: Friday October 17th 2008 Making the news is Year 13 student JAMES MILLER. In the spirit of
adventurer Tony Hawks, James and his fried Marcus are going to walk from John O'Groats to Lands End,
rihauling a pair of fridges behind them. As if that wasn't cool enough, they are going to raise a great deal of money for the
Alzeihmer's Society. SUPERB A-LEVEL RESULTSDATELINE : Friday August 15th 2008 Congratulations to our Year 13 A-level students for a stunning set of results this summer! The overall pass rate at A-level was 99.3%, the highest we have seen. Nearly half of all grades were either As or Bs. There were many outstanding performances but a special word of praise for Henry Bertram and Katie Flynn. Katie achieved four grade As at A- level (English Literature, History, Philosophy and Sociology) and will now be going on to Oxford University to read Modern History. Henry obtained five straight A-level passes- in Chemistry, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Music. RAG WEEK RAISES RECORD AMOUNTDATELINE : Friday October 25th 2007 Our annual Rag Week has been a great success and has raised nearly £1000 for charities. Each day had its own special theme and students appeared in a variety of disguises, ranging from music eras to public services. At lunch-times there were popular activities, with pride of place going to the now traditional Slave Auction. This year, a new feature was an Eggheads Quiz pitting staff against students. The Penalty Shoot Out saw victory for the staff and the netball was closely fought too! SIXTH FORM SUPPORTS THREE GOOD CAUSESDATELINE : Friday December 15 2006 At a special assembly today, cheques for a total value of £2,050 were presented to very deserving causes. The money was raised during the highly successful Rag Week in October, and from other charity events. Receiving donations were the NSPCC, represented by Anne Luckham who is the charity's Schools Officer, who explained to the Sixth Form about some of the terrible cases that the NSPCC has to deal with. Sue Wilkinson thanked the students for the £750 she received for the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice in Farnham, reminding them how important it is to have good hospice care in a local community. The last recipient was Kylie Grimes, a brave and popular young lady, who is coping with the challenge of partial paralysis following an accident. She is now working to raise money for other people with similar problems. MEDIA STUDIES GREETS BBC DIRECTORDATELINE : October 1 2006 Media Studies A-level students were delighted to have a distinguished visitor from the BBC. Director/producer Neil Baldock spent several hours in college, talking to the A-level students about careers in the media and his own experiences. |
