Sanctions
All Hallows is an orderly environment in which well over a thousand people
live and learn together. Our School Code provides clear guidance about the
behaviour and attitudes expected from our students. Naturally, in a large
community, there will be instances when individuals make mistakes and act
against the welfare of the community as a whole. On such occasions, a variety of
sanctions will follow. The following list is included, not to illustrate
typical behaviour, but to ensure clarity. As noted in our OFSTED reports, All
Hallows is a safe and caring school founded on "gospel values". Actions
by students which will always invite sanctions
- Bullying, racism or sexism will not be tolerated at All Hallows; in the spirit of our Mission Statement, we expect you to offer everyone equal love, justice and respect
- Disrupting the learning of others will not be tolerated and is likely to lead to some form of exclusion
- Defacing or damaging school property is likely to lead to exclusion and a fine
- Rudeness or bad language will not be accepted. Rudeness to a member of staff will probably result in exclusion. Rudeness published in print or on the Internet could lead to permanent exclusion
- Fighting is not allowed and physical assault on another member of our community will normally lead to temporary or permanent exclusion from school
- Smoking is not allowed in school or on the way to school. If you smoke or stay with others who are smoking, sanctions can range from detention to exclusion
- Drugs are not allowed in school. If you bring drugs into school, pass or receive drugs, the school will seek permanent exclusion, in line with the school’s drugs policy.
Alcohol will be treated in a similar way to drugs.
- Misbehaviour on the buses or walking to and from school will be treated just as seriously as misbehaviour at school. If you behave badly on the buses, sanctions can range from detention to a permanent ban on using school transport.
- Having a mobile phone in school. Any phone found in school will be
confiscated and retained for a minimum of one week; after that time it will be
available for collection by a parent from the School Office.
- Having any dangerous or inappropriate items in school,
including : correcting fluids, aerosols,
smoking materials, laser pens, weapons of any sort and any other items which could cause harm to other members of our community. Items of this nature will not be returned to students. ‘Walkmen’,
'i-pods', jewellery etc. which should not be in school will be confiscated and returned after an appropriate period.
- Buying or selling any item on the school premises without permission.
- Any other behaviour which is deemed to be contrary to the School’s Mission and School Code.
