PRESENTATION EVENING
DATELINE : Monday January 7th 2008 Many of our students received
certificates and prizes at the annual Presentation Evening held at the Farnham
Maltings. Chair of Governors Mr Tim Bradley, welcomed guests County Councillor
John Farmer and Guest of honour Bishop Kieran Conry, Bishop of Arundel and
Brighton. In his address to the students and their parents, Bishop Kieran
deplored the modern tendency to criticise aspects of the life of teenagers as
problems to be dealt with. Instead he applauded the positive contribution made
by so many young people today. He reflected that some people regarded prize
giving as socially divisive, but for him it was a celebration of achievement by
everyone, not just those receiving public recognition. The Bishop later presented certificates for success in GCSE and A-level
examinations to the students present and then gave out prizes for particular
achievements.
