GCSE RESULTS ARE OUTSTANDING

Our 2011 GCSE results  are simply outstanding!

Out of 2301 examinations entered by the Year 11 students, 2299 resulted in a pass grade, representing a 99.91% pass rate. Of these, 88% of the students obtained at least five passes in the A*-C range and 82% gained five or more A*-C grades including English and Mathematics, the government’s favoured benchmark of attainment.

Among the many amazing individual successes: twins Christopher and Sophia Middlehurst amassed twenty-three GCSEs between them, of which fifteen were A* grade. Chris obtained seven A*s and five As, while Sophia managed no less than nine A*s among her 12 subjects. Other students obtaining seven A*s among their results were Matthew Gibson, Zoe Greener, Harry Jones and Olivia O’Carroll. Also producing outstanding results with straight A grades were James Mather (6 A*s and 6As), and Elizabeth Farrant, Nina De Toro Christie and Naomi Shakesheff (each 4 A*s and 7As).

Mrs. Lutzeier, our Headteacher said: ‘In a year when OFSTED said we were Outstanding, this is yet more evidence of how hard our staff and students work - and how well they work together to achieve such super results. Obviously I am delighted with the superb performances of our most able students, but I am equally pleased that so many of our Year 11 obtained a really worthwhile set of results, with very few grades falling below a D. I am sure that all the students and their parents are thrilled and I look forward to seeing many of these young people continuing their education in our Sixth Form College in September.’
