STUNNING GCSE RESULTS IN 2009

Yesterday's GCSE results were simply stunning! For the first time 80% of our Year 11 students obtained at least five higher level passes (grades A*-C) and using the government's preferred benchmark (five subjects including English and Mathematics at A*-C) the figure rose to an excellent 72%. Every single student in the year group (205 entered) achieved at least one GCSE grade, an equally pleasing fact. With a large number of AS grade passes also obtained, our Year 11 students have every reason to be very proud of themselves and as thrilled as their teachers and parents.

There were many excellent individual performances: ADONAIS VACHON secured an amazing eleven A* grades, passing every single subject she was enterd for at the maximum grade. In addition she was one of  51 Year 11s who were entered a year early for  AS level Religious Studies, and in this she also achieved a grade A! Other top performers included DOMINIC WOOD (10 A*s, 1 A  and an A in AS RE), CHRIS EAGER (9 A*s, 2As), SHAUN DOLE (9A*s, 2 As) and CONOR McGOVERN and ROISIN JENKINS who both collected 7 A*s in their overall tally.

In total,  no less than 32 students achieved at least eight A* or A grades and 26 also obtained an A or B grade in their AS level RE entry.

Of course, every student's success is special for them and their families and we congratulate each and every one, not just those at the top of the examination table.

We look forward to seeing our high-flying Year 11s when they return to join the All Hallows Sixth Form College in September and we are confident they will achieve even more stunning results in 2011!
