CHAPLAINCY NEWS

In January 2008 we welcomed Sr. Marguerite Wong as our new chaplain. She joins our Chaplaincy Team and will lead us on our journey in the footsteps of Jesus, in the spirit of the gospel, within the traditions of the Roman Catholic Church, aware of the spirit of the age in which we live

Our programme of AWAYDAYS for Year 7  and Year 8 for 2007-8 is now complete; each tutor group has had a day out of school for reflection, shared activity and prayer. (The days are led by the form tutor and a member of the RE staff.)

During Lent, each Year group joined together for a service of Reconciliation, followed by the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Thanks to our local parish priests for coming in to hear confessions on these days.

At Easter, on Maundy Thursday,  we held two large services in the Sports Hall to promote awareness of the Easter Triduum- the three days that make up the celebration of Easter, recalling Jesus' Last Supper with his closest friends, his arrest, trial and execution and his rising from the dead.

We  also run a CATHOLIC YOUTH ALPHA course  to enable students to learn about Jesus in a very direct way: It has proved very successful world-wide in helping people of all ages to become more involved and enthusiastic about their religion. The group meets in the 'Upper Room' on Wednesday lunchtimes.
