A-LEVEL RESULTS SUPERB ONCE AGAINDateline: Thursday August 20th 2009 ![]() Today was a day of celebration for our 6th form students who achieved a 99% pass rate in their A-level examinations. It was especially pleasing for five students who achieved straight A grades in their A-level results. Tom Schular attained four full A grades as well as a further A grade at AS level which enables him to take up a place at Cambridge University to read Architecture. Shaun Hide and David Eaton also obtained four A grades, Shaun in addition notching up two other AS level A grades too! Unlike most of his peers, David Eaton was not able to attend the college in person to receive his results, but he had a very good reason! He is currently in China on a study and leisure visit having been chosen as one of two hundred emissaries of Prime Minister Gordon Brown on a mission to countries playing a major role in the new global economy. David was chosen for the Prime Minister’s Global Fellowship following a written project proposal and interviews. His first two weeks have been spent doing a cultural immersion course, For the second fortnight he is working in a partner school, living with a host family and experiencing the culture firsthand. Finally he will be placed with a global company as part of a work experience-style placement. On his return, David will present a report of his experiences and attend a conference where Gordon Brown is expected to be in attendance. The other All Hallows students with straight A grades were Andrew Sivanesan and Kerry Kerr. Many other students performed at or above expectation and the overall pass rate was very high indeed. Head of Sixth Form Mr Spare said: ‘I am really pleased with these results. The students have worked very hard and some have exceeded all our expectations. I want to thank the tutor team and all the Sixth Form teachers for their hard work and determination to maintain high standards.’ |
